Sorolla: Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings: 1876-1894 (Volume I)

This is the result of more than 30 years of research by Blanca Pons-Sorolla with all the production of Sorolla, who was one of the most prolific artists in Spain, he is an internationally renowned artist, with exhibitions all over the world. Each painting has its description and some of them have a special comment about its history. Many of the artworks are pretty rare to find and the majority have not been seen before.This first volume of the catalogue raisonné of Joaquín Sorolla Bastida’s paintings includes 1,063 works, with their corresponding illustrated technical data sheets, which he produced between 1876 and 1894, when he created La vuelta de la pesca (The Return from Fishing). This painting encapsulates the vision of painting that was being awarded prizes at international exhibitions and for which the painter of the light is not so well known. However, it is exciting to see the process behind this series of paintings, which, as it matures, exudes technical and stylistic ease.For this reason, the Sorolla we discover in this volume, new to many and broader than we thought, aims to continue to fascinate the public and open up new lines of research and study.
